The Heart Behind Scoops & Subs
When Arah “TRANE” Williams — a Southside Chicago native and U.S. Army veteran — opened Scoops & Subs in Palm Coast, Florida, he wasn’t just serving Italian Beef and Monster Milkshakes. He was building a home base for something bigger: serving his community.
Service was TRANE’s life long before the milkshakes went viral. So it was only natural that Scoops & Subs would become a launchpad for feeding neighbors, blessing children, and lifting up the folks who need it most across Palm Coast and Flagler County.
Here’s a look at the work — and the love — that happens off the menu.
Feeding Our Neighbors
A warm meal can change a whole day. That’s why TRANE and the Scoops & Subs family regularly feed the homeless and families going through hard times — no questions asked, just a plate, a smile, and a little dignity. From hot subs to sweet treats, everyone deserves to be seen and fed, and Scoops & Subs makes sure they are.
Free Haircuts for Kids & Neighbors in Need
A fresh haircut does more than look good — it builds confidence. In partnership with Toney’s Barbershop, TRANE helps provide free haircuts for children heading back to school, as well as for homeless and less-fortunate neighbors who just need someone in their corner. Everyone walks out standing a little taller.
Back to School, Every Year
No child should start the school year without the basics.
Every year, Scoops & Subs and its partners pass out backpacks, book bags, and school supplies to Palm Coast students — completely free. It’s grown into the beloved St. Joe Plaza Back to School Block Party: free backpacks and supplies, free scoops of ice cream, free haircuts, a live DJ, a bounce house, and even a legendary Milkshake Contest. Music, laughter, full backpacks, and full bellies — that’s a Palm Coast summer done right.

Pouring Into Our Youth
From the court to the mats to the saddle — we love cheering our kids on.
Scoops & Subs proudly supports local youth — sponsoring basketball teams, celebrating young jiu-jitsu athletes, and backing fun days like community horseback riding. When our kids win, Palm Coast wins.
